Every team must register prior to playing their first game. The registration area is at Stan Wadlow Park (under the covered roof near the playground park) and will be open starting at 2:00pm on Friday June 20.

Your team representative will be provided with a coupon for each player and coach, to be used on June 20-22 only for a hot dog and a freezie or water. Please do not lose these coupons as replacements will not be provided.

WEATHER POLICY FOR SUMMER SLAM | All games will take place at Stan Wadlow Park, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather that requires scheduling adjustments, EYBA reserves the right to move a small number of games to other nearby diamonds and modify the playoffs. |
A) MODIFICATIONS TO SCHEDULE | If there is any inclement weather affecting the tournament pool games, EYBA reserves the right to modify pool play and the playoff format. |
B) REFUNDS DUE TO WEATHER | Should the entire tournament be rained out, teams will be refunded at least 75% of your entry fee, final amount to be determined after non-refundable expenses. Of note, EYBA has certain non-refundable costs associated with hosting the tournament. In the event of a partial rainout, a portion of registration fees will be returned, after accounting for expenses incurred (permits, umpire fees, awards). A full accounting would be performed, factoring in the number of games not played. |
SCHEDULE | Teams will be divided into three divisions of 4 teams, two for AAA and one for AA. Each team will play the other 3 teams in their pool. The results of those games will be the basis of the seeding for the playoff rounds (further described in the Tournament Rules below). A copy of the tournament schedule has been forwarded to all teams via email concurrently with these Tournament Rules. |
SUMMER SLAM TOURNAMENT RULES 2025 |
Subject to the following exceptions described in the Tournament Rules, only Baseball Ontario’s Rep Division Playing Rules will be used during this tournament. The 2025 approved OBA Rookie Ball playing rules will apply (rules can be found on the OBA On-Deck App, which include the Approved Playing Rules of 9U). The Official Rules of Baseball shall govern all games except as provided in Section RP2 and RQ2 set out above. |
1. | Score sheets and lineup cards must be used. The home team will be determined by a coin toss for every game, where the team travelling the furthest makes the call. The home team will be responsible for the official score sheet. Line up cards should be exchanged at least 10 minutes before the official start time. |
2. | In round robin play, each team plays three (3) games. Points are awarded as follows during round robin: Win = 2 pts. Tie = 1 pt. Loss = 0 pts. |
3. | Tie games will be allowed to stand in the round robin pool play. There will be no extra innings. |
4. | Teams will be seeded for playoffs after completion of their 3 round-robin games pursuant to these Rules and matched, as determined by the Convenor. |
5. | Games will be 1 hour and 45 minutes in length, at minimum, from the time of the first pitch. No new inning to begin after this point. The home plate umpire will notify both teams and the official scorekeeper of the time of the first pitch. |
6. | All playoff games shall be 7 innings or until a winner is declared. 5 innings shall constitute an official game except that a winner is declared, and the game declared official at any point that the opposing team is unable to win or tie the game. Playoff games (quarter-finals and semi-finals) will be 7 innings in length with no time limit. |
7. | There will be no pre-game warm-ups on the infield before any game, ground balls can be taken in foul territory. |
8. | In all OBA games, an 18-run mercy rule will apply after 3 innings or 15 runs after 4 innings. A 10-run mercy rule will also apply after 5 innings or any subsequent inning thereafter. If the home team leads after the top half of any such inning, the game shall be considered a mercy and the home team will not bat. |
9. | The decision of the umpire(s) will be final. Any protests will be resolved on the field by the tournament convenor. |
10. | After pool play, teams advance to playoffs with the #1 and #3 seeds of the AAA Pools playing each other and the #2 seed of the AAA Pools playing the AA Pool winner. The winners of the two AAA pools will be the #1 AAA and #2 AAA seeds. The wild card #3 AAA seed will be an AAA team. To break any ties to determine the pool winners and #1, 2 and 3 AAA seeds, see below. In the cases of ties, the following tie-breaker rules shall apply: i. head to head record among tied teams;
ii. team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games among tied teams; iii. team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games; iv. team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in games among tied teams; v. team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games; vi. coin toss. When there are 3 or more teams tied, the tiebreakers will commence at 10(ii). After the winner of that tie breaker is determined, the tiebreakers will continue, if necessary, at 10(ii) as long as there are 3 or more teams tied. When only 2 teams remain, the tiebreaker will start at 10(i). |
11. | The final score for any forfeited game will be recorded as 7-0 with 5 innings played, for tiebreaking purposes. |
12. | Managers and coaches are responsible for the conduct of anyone involved with their team throughout the tournament. See section on “Conduct” for more details below. |
13. | EYBA accepts no responsibility and expressly disclaims any liability for any injuries, damages, or losses to anyone during the tournament. |
14. | Teams are required to retrieve foul balls hit during their games. No time outs will be added for any delays due to lack of baseballs. |
15. | Teams are required to conduct post-game meetings off the field. Gather all equipment and personal items as quickly as possible in order to keep games on schedule and the next team into the dugout. All garbage and water bottles must be collected inside the dugouts by teams before leaving the area. |
16. | Players, coaches and spectators are not to walk through the fields at the diamondswhile games are in play. |
17. | A coach or scorekeeper for each team must sign the official game sheetimmediately following the conclusion of their game. |
18. | Important to return the Game Balls to the Registration Desk with the signed game sheet. |

PARKING | Street Parking – There are 2 parking lots for Stan Wadlow Park, one on the west end of the park beside the hockey arena off Cedarvale Avenue and one in the curling club on the north side of Cosburn Avenue just east of Gledhill Avenue. For those who are not able to find parking in a lot, there is street parking around the park and in adjacent streets to the park. Be mindful of foul balls. Please obey all traffic rules, cycling lanes and street parking signs. City of Toronto parking enforcement is very quick to issue tickets so don’t let them ruin your weekend by towing your vehicle away because you were in rush & parked illegally. |
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION |
Snack Bar (on site) The EYBA Snack Bar will be open throughout the tournament and serves all the good stuff that kids love: hot dogs, chips, freezies, cold drinks, sunflower seeds, candy, etc. Bathrooms (on site) There are bathrooms on site at the Community Centre (accessible from the outside around the back of the snack bar. Please be respectful of the bathrooms. |
