Inclusivity Policy
The East York Baseball Association (EYBA) exists to provide a positive sporting experience for all children. We are an inclusive organization, respectful of every background, which allows no place for bullying or intimidation.Players, coaches, officials, parents, and family members are expected to behave with respect and kindness to everyone sharing the park.
We follow the guidelines set out by the Ontario Baseball Association and expect everyone to do the same.
You can read those guidelines by clicking here: OBA Policies.
Child Protection Policy
EYBA places human rights and dignity at the centre of its work. Sexual and reproductive health and rights includes protection from exploitation and abuse of vulnerable adults and children. EYBA is committed to helping all people realize their full rights in Canada and globally. EYBA is also committed to ensuring that its work considers and addresses the diverse needs and intersectional circumstances of different communities. Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and Sexual Harassment (SH) must not be tolerated; they are an unacceptable breach of the fundamental rights of the people we serve and of those with whom we work as well as a betrayal of our core values.
This policy defines EYBA’s commitment to the protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) of vulnerable children and youth, involving EYBA Personnel (as defined below). This policy also affirms EYBA’s commitment to the welfare and protection from sexual exploitation and all forms of abuse of children, involving EYBA players and participants. EYBA has zero tolerance with respect to violence, abuse, harassment, or exploitation of children. EYBA takes seriously any allegations of sexual exploitation harassment abuse or child abuse involving any of EYBA’s volunteers. EYBA initiates rigorous investigation of any complaints that indicate a possible violation of this policy and will take appropriate disciplinary action, as warranted. This policy accompanies EYBA’s and Baseball Ontario’s Codes of Conduct for Players, Volunteers and Umpires and the Baseball Ontario Concussion and Return to Play Policies, all of which are adopted.

Athlete Playing-Up Policy
REP - In rep ball, players should only be "signed" to a team in their own age group. There is a provision for "signing" underage players, but we encourage players to play with their own age group. For the outstanding players, there may be opportunities to be called up to play for a rep team a year older if a team is short players for a specific game or tournament.
House League - EYBA does not permit play-ups or play-downs. We cannot have any player take a spot away from age eligible players in House League. As in rep, players can be called up to play in the next higher division. There may also be occasion for the player to be called up to play a specific game or tournament for a Select or Rep team.
Player Request Policy - House League
There continues to be an extreme number of play-together requests by parents for their players. In some cases, the number of requests is outnumbering the number of players, and accommodation of the requests has led to an increased workload for our volunteer convenors. This also can result in an imbalance in teams.
The volunteer convenors will do their best to accommodate one mutual friend request per player. That is a player may request one friend and that friend must reciprocate the request. Select players may not enter a play-together request of another select player.
Additionally, siblings will be placed on the same team unless requested otherwise; volunteer Coaches will have their child(ren) on their team; and the sponsor's child(ren) will be on the team they sponsor (unless requested otherwise).
Establishing balanced teams is an important goal of the East York Baseball Association. Having an enjoyable experience for players across the league supersedes any individual preferences parents or players may have.
Rain-Out Policy
We encourage the practice of checking the website prior to heading out to the park for house league games. Rep players should connect with their coaches or managers. In the event of inclement weather and/or potentially poor diamond conditions, we will attempt to update the website by 5:00pm for weeknight house league games. Of course, weather conditions can be unpredictable. What may look good or bad at 5:00pm can change quickly. In these cases every attempt to update the website in a timely manner will be made.
In the event that the website is not updated, please use your best judgement. Most people that have registered with us live in the area. If it is raining, or has been raining where you live and your yard is under water, you can be pretty sure that the ball park will share those same conditions. We do not cancel games for light rain, or because the forecast calls for rain, or it feels like rain, or the sky is getting dark, or our joints are hurting and that only happens when a storm is coming etc. We only cancel the games in advance for unplayable fields.
Regular Season House League Games are not rescheduled. Every attempt is made to reschedule House League playoff games where possible. Rep games are rescheduled at the coach's discretion and availability of both teams.
